Hello everyone! It's hard to believe that Madeline is now over 18 months old. She is becoming a very independent and strong-willed child who knows the value of a well-timed tantrum. In actuality, she is a truly wonderful child who continues to bring us joy and happiness each and every day. She loves chatting on the phone, but there has to be someone on the line. If daddy gives her his cell phone, she always remembers to check and turn it on before talking. Lisa is now off for the summer, so they are looking forward to lots of fun in the pool or at the park. Maddie recognizes most everything we say to her (whether she chooses to acknowledge is another story), and she can say quite a number of words - some in German, some in English.

Here's Maddie jamming out to her two favorite songs - Jane's Addiction's "Been Caught Stealin'" and the B-52s' "Love Shack". She knows how to shake her booty!

Here are a few pictures from Easter. Unfortunately, Maddie got sick that morning and didn't get to go to church or Easter dinner.

"There are eggs in my chair!!"

"It puts the eggs in the basket..."

Off to find the next one...

Reviewing the day's haul...

Maddie's new sandbox. It is at waist height so she doesn't have to get in, and holds water on the other side for variety.

Grandma and Grandpa Bergmann celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Mother's Day. Here they are with all their children and grandchildren.

Enjoying a lazy morning on the porch. I think there are going to be lots of these this summer!

Madeline, Eric & Lisa: What a wonderful blessing this morning to find your posting in my e-mails. Madeline, you are growing up much too quickly! How I miss seeing you dance and all those little "firsts", even your little fusses. (MY grandchildren do NOT have tantrums!) I'm so pleased to see you have a sandbox. Your daddy spent much time in huge sandbox big enough for 3 little boys plus the neighbor kid. And your Grandma loved to play in her sandbox when she was growing up, too. You and Mommy look so special out on the deck in the morning with the coffee and the juice cup! Grandma hopes to start a day with you that way someday soon! It's good to see Bailey keeping watch over all of you, too. Stay out of the garden, Bailey, and if you don't, come spend your doghouse days in Iowa!! Grandma accepts COD's! Enjoy your summer, all of you! Love & hugs, Grandma in Iowa
Grandma Soukup says what a big girl, you sure are growing up! Barb,Tim and Kyler say thank you for sharing! Have fun in your sandbox, where is the pool?Enjoy your summer!
What a sweetie! I love the final photo of the "sleeping angel" in the car seat. Is that a Drake Bulldog T-shirt she is wearing? It looks familiar. Have a great summer........
Love,
Carol and Jim
Yes - Daddy got her a Drake Bulldogs t-shirt when he was back for an alumni event in March. Mommy even lets her wear it occasionally!
Top of the Morning! It is about 0830 or about 0230 in Minnesota. I enjoyed the photos, especially the snow scene. Thank you for sharing.
I am beginning retreat the Mercy International Center, Dublin, Ireland. It will be in the home of our foundress, Catherine McAuley. It is is small group to fit into her home. Some Sisters of Mercy are from Australia, Newfoundland, and two from MI. I am sleeping above Catherine's bedroom -- what a privilege.
