First of all, a couple of things we wanted to make sure you knew:
1. If you would like to receive an email each time this site is updated, send us an email, or click on the "Comments" link at the bottom of this entry and let us know. The software we use can send an email to you automatically each time we post an update!
2. Many of you saw it, but for those that didn't, there is a link called "Comments" at the bottom of each entry. Click this link and you can post a comment to the website to share your thoughts (and read others' comments, which is just as fun). We love to hear from you!
3. Previous entries can be seen in a number of ways. The "Recent Entries" section on the left lists the titles of the last few entries. Click on one of the titles to go to that entry. You can also use the calendar at the left - click on any underlined date to see the entry for that date. Finally, the archives section will show you all the entries for a given month, but that could get quite long towards the end of the month!
We're still working on writing up the birth story. Madeline is great during the day, but at night she doesn't want to sleep in her cradle. She loves to be tightly swaddled and held - we think it's the body warmth. Anyway, our nights at home have been spent trying to find a safe position to hold her and sleep. So far the armchair/ottoman in the living room is working best, but we're still experimenting, and hoping she'll get over this phase! (There's worse to come, we're sure!)

Hey! It's cold out here!
Thank you all for the wonderful comments you have shared with us, both on this site and by phone or email. We cherish your words and thoughts as we learn to know and love young Madeline.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we had many wonderful visitors. Madeline is doing great, and Lisa is healing nicely. In the next few days, we'll try to write up our birth story to share with all of you. We went home from the hospital Wednesday evening, and Bailey, our pet basset hound, got to meet her little sister. We'll try to get some good photos at home to share with all of you.
We're going to be staying home for Thanksgiving and through the weekend, so you're welcome to drop by if you're in the area!
Madeline takes one of her many, many naps.
Look at those beautiful eyes!!
Yup, she's a Daddy's girl!
With her grandfather, Loren Bergmann...
And with her grandmother, Sally Bergmann.
Great Uncle Eb and Great Aunt Helen came to our place on Sunday evening because they wanted to see Lisa pregnant. Good timing - 6 hours later the contractions started! Here they are Tuesday holding Maddie.
Her cousin Kristin sures knows how to hold a baby!
Cousin Erika gets her chance.
On November 25, 2002 we welcomed Madeline Marie Roling to our family.
She was 8 pounds, 8 ounces, and 20.75 inches long. She was born at 9:17pm. Mom, Dad and Maddie are doing great!
